The Dutch Birdsong Network brings together scientists from across the Netherlands who study birdsong from many different perspectives. Our members include neuroscientists, cognitive scientists, behavioural biologists, and field ecologists. By combining these complementary approaches, we create a unique platform for collaboration.
Our goal is to tackle the open questions of vocal learning, such as: Which factors play a role in song learning? What are the cognitive and neural mechanisms behind this process? And how is song development and communication shaped in the wild?
Together, we form a community working to advance our understanding of birdsong, both as a model for vocal learning and as a window into the evolution of language.
